I was wondering how exactly you got that great photo? Im interested in take a set of photos of my family... for posterity but in the same style as yours and of the recent watchmen annual photos. e.g.

What I see in both of your photos is that they are super detailed - I can see every wrinkle on their faces. Are you taking the photo as Raw then playing with it?

Hi Robert,
I shot as high quality jpg, then all I did in Photoshop, if I remember rightly, was work with levels and curves, then converted to black and white.
If you want lots of detail, get up close, make sure there's no blur at all in the features (though background blur can bring out the subjects well), and work with the light.
